Another attempt at Elk Lake

We tried a new route to Elk Lake this weekend - and failed. But we stopped at the Ranger Station on our way home and have one last route to check out. Hopefully we can make that happen next weekend. At any rate, we did find a spot to camp off of NF 2480 alongside a creek. Who knows what creek, but it was a nice creek for our little 1.5 day trip. MoNK still loves being outside which of course makes our camping trips fantastic. Hopefully we can enjoy an extended weekend in the wilderness with the whole King family next weekend :)

Hike @ Gazzam Lake

We planned on camping this weekend, but Sydmo is a little sick so we decided to go for a day hike instead. We went to Gazzam Lake on the island. It was a fun little trip. Miles was bright eyed as usual in the trees. The boy absolutely loves being outside.

Seattle Sounders v. Barcelona!!

Miles' first soccer game was probably the most highly attended game of the season. We prepped him with earplugs, a hat and a couple layers via the moby wrap and he slept the entire game save for a short eating session.

A friend from work brought back a Messi jersey from his recent trip to Spain for Miles. He was the only one of us with the gear :)

Barcelona is a treat to watch live. The MLS is great and all, but nothing in comparison. We're so lucky to have Chelsea and Barcelona visit us our first year in the MLS.

Recent topic of conversation: Einstein's Theory of Relativity

While Chris is re-reading Einstein's Theory of Relativity, I have been delving back into some of my favorite artists' work. One of whom is Salvador Dali. Our latest topic of conversation (being Einstein) reminded me of Dali's paintings: The Persistence of Memory & The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory. Enjoy.

Ocean Trip - M's 1st Camping Adventure

We finally went camping this summer!! We took our first trip with Miles to the ocean. We stayed at a place we've been once before just North of Queets. Miles was the perfect camping baby. He slept in his carrier on our hikes and enjoyed the scenery through the forest. The weather was ocean-cool which was so nice after it being in the 90's all week. We even had morning dew on our tent. And the ocean was.... the ocean. Fantastic as always.
