Autumn Day at the Park

Syd and I went for a walk yesterday. We checked out all the leaves changing color, played at the playground, and channeled our inner Andy Goldsworthy.

Miles' Owl Hat

I finished his owl hat. I need to sew on a couple buttons for owl eyes and block it when he starts growing out of it.

Pattern: Owl Tuque (Ravelry)
Yarn: Malabrigo Chunky - Lettuce
Time to complete: Approx 8-10 hours

Last Weekend

Last weekend we went to G-ma & G-pa's to hang out with them. We took some family pics outside, Syd and G-ma made cookies, we watched some football, ate some yummy food and called it a day.

The Ferry

Since we live on Bainbridge now, we have to ride the ferry twice daily to get to and from work. One might think it would suck to commute via ferry. Here are a few reasons why it in fact does not suck:

* It's only a 1/2 hour commute
* It's always at least moderately clean
* You can walk around
* You can go to the bathroom
* You can either sit by yourself, in a booth with friends or outside on the top deck
* You don't have to deal with smelly, drunk, obnoxious people that you're stuck in a cramped bus with
* You don't have to deal with traffic
* You can eat, drink, sleep, do homework, work on your laptop, read a book, knit, walk laps around the boat, etc.
* You can even have a brew
* You can watch the sunrise and sunset, look at beautiful Mt. Rainier, the Olympics, the Cascades, the Seattle skyline, and seals on the buoys

I'll take this commute any day.

A Couple Projects

I knit an Aviatrix hat for Miles a little while ago. I love how it turned out. I think the buttons are my favorite part :)

Pattern: Aviatrix Hat (Ravelry)
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran - o.5 skeins
Time to complete: Approx. 3-4 hours

Since Miles is starting to bald and winter is around the corner, I've decided to knit him another hat. This one is an adorable owl hat. It's my first project with cables and I'm getting the hang of them. I also love this yarn. It's malabrigo chunky. I have more for a couple hats for Chris and I and I also have a stash to knit my Mom's February Lady sweater. I'll be starting that after this hat is done and I can take a larger knitting bag with me to work (aka, when I can dump my pump bag!) since all of my knitting time is on the ferry.

Yarn: Malabrigo Chunky

Here is a picture of Miles in that onesie I made a while back. Definitely inspiration to make him more clothes :)

I knit a hat for Chris, but he has it with him today so I'll take pics and post about it later.
